TRUCK MANUFACTURING PLANT SUBSURFACE SOIL REMEDIATION

Project description and scope

Envirofix was retained to remediate subsurface soils impacted with petroleum hydrocarbon and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the area of a former paint booth at a former truck manufacturing plant in St. Thomas, ON, Canada.

Project delivery

In cooperation with a trusted consultant, we evaluated various remedial options and developed a feasible remedial action plan (RAP) to conduct soil remediation using excavation and offsite disposal option. The contaminated soil was found beneath the concrete floor of the plant building and excavation was required to be conduced in a manner to maintain stability and integrity of the interior column foundations. A passive soil bioremediation system was installed for long-term cleanup of the residual contamination under existing foundation.  We continued to backfill the excavation area with engineered fill, re-surfacing with concrete, and restoring the site.

Time was of the essence, as the client was planning to divest the property expeditiously.   Envirofix implemented the remedial action plan safely and in a most expeditiously manner to meet the client’s schedule requirements.  The project was completed without incident within the client’s required time frame and budget.
